

Lahore has always been a centre for food and festival through the history of Indo-Pak Sub-Continent. It have tasted the flavours of various civilizations when ever they have come to Lahore as invaders, friends, visitors, etc. The main festivals that goes in Lahore are:
Basant Festival:
Kite Flying is an old hobby in Lahore. Children as well as Elders spend their entire days on their roof top in passion of kite flying. In this regards the main event is held every year during the month of February and at the start of Spring Season. People wear orange and yellow cloths in celebration of the harvest of mustard crop which is grown here from many centuries as chief agricultural crop. The main event is usually focused in Walled City, where there are traditional families between whom the kite flying competition is held from many decades, generation after generation. Unlike the rest of the World where kite flying is just an art, here the main aim is to cut your opponents kite and defaet him. For this a special glass coated thread called dor is used. The festival is accompanied by many concerts, dinners and shopping festivals and visitors from all over the World Visit to be aprt of this unique historical event.

Pakistan Day:
It is held on 23rd March each year in rememberance of 23rd March, 1940 when Pakistan Resolution was passed in which muslims of India Decided to get free of the cruelties of British and Hindus and made a new libral country Pakistan. The main event of the festival is Army Parade which is held early in the morning. Although the main parade is held in Islamabad, but army divisions in Lahore perform their parade in Lahore and passes mainly through Mall Road. Another attraction is the flag changing cermony of Allama Iqbal's Tomb (The Thinker of Pakistan).
Pakistan's Independence Day:
Held in celebration of Pakistan's Independence on 14th Augut 1947.
Islamic Eid Festivals:
Held twice an year, once at the end of Islamic Month Ramadan and other in Islamic Month Zil Haj. Later one is accompanied the traditional sacrifice of animals like sheep, cows and camels.
Horse and Cattle Show:
Held once an year where people come from all over the country to exhibit their live stock and horses.
Tatto Show:
Usually accompanied with Horse and Cattle Show at night time. It basically includes fire works and other events.
International Pupet Festival & Sufi Music Festival:
These two events are organized by a private group Rafi Peer Theartre and usually held once an year and invite lot of visitors from abroad.
